This article is written to let you know a wrong doctrine may have eternity consequences. John Calvin is wrong in his theology. People may be forever lost if believe in his false teaching.
This article is written to prove from the Bible that Calvinism is WRONG. No matter what theologians may say, they do not matter. If you repent of your sins and believe in Jesus Christ, your Lord and Savior, you also can be saved.
It is necessary to state from the beginning that JESUS CHRIST is the FOUNDER of CHRISTIANITY and the HEAD of the CHRISTIAN CHURCH. NO individual or institution is worthy to link to Christianity. One day I strayed into a so-called Christian website, the owner of the site ludicrously claimed that Jesus Christ was a follower of John Calvin. Now we all know that the world is counted in the year of the Lord, for example, this year is 2021. The Lord Jesus Christ appeared in the world more than 2,000 years ago. That is why the calendar of the world is counted B.C. and A.D. B.C. stands for before Christ. A.D. is meaning of the Latin anno Domini (in the year of Our Lord). How was it possible that Jesus Christ was a follower of John Calvin who lived in the 1500s?
Secondly, Christianity is based on the Holy Bible. Although all the historical records, Words and deeds, doctrines and teachings of Jesus Christ are written in the New Testament, Christianity also embraces the Old Testament as the Word of God. Like Luther, I believe in Sola Scriptura (the belief that the Scripture alone is the final and only infallible source and authority for matters of Christian faith and practice). Those who deny the Word of God cannot and should not call himself/herself a Christian.
Thirdly, the truth of Christ is the Revelation of God surpasses human reason and tradition. I could not have any personal reason (no hatred, no ill will, no malice) against John Calvin who lived and died long long ago before I was born. I do not know John Calvin. However, I am against the heresy of John Calvin which has led many astray from the truth of the Christian Faith.
I. WHAT I BELIEVE.
To avoid misunderstanding and confusion, it is fair to make clear to you what I believe. I believe there are many things pertaining to God are spoken plainly and they must be taken literally true:
1. God created the universe and mankind literally.
2. God destroyed the people in the days of Noah with the flood literally and truly.
3. God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah with fire from Heaven literally.
4. God led the children of Israel walking in the dry land of the Red Sea literally.
5. All the miracles in the Old Testament as well as in the New Testament are literally true.
6. Jesus was born of the virgin Mary literally but conceived of the Holy Spirit.
7. Jesus was God manifested in Jesus Christ bodily and literally, the perfect Man and the true God.
8. Jesus died on the cross for sinners literally and rose again from the death bodily, and went to Heaven with the resurrected glorious and immortal and spiritual body literally.
9. Jesus is our “Great God and Savior”. Jesus is coming again literally just as He went up to Heaven literally as it is written.
10. Jesus is to judge the living and the dead literally and He is going to rule on earth 1,000 years with the saints literally.
11. Hell is the literal place of eternal punishment and torture and agony reserved for the devil and his agents and all the wicked and unbelievers.
12. Heaven is the Paradise of God literally, not a state of mind, the Holy City and the New Jerusalem in the Kingdom of Heaven, and the children of God shall reign with the Lord forever and ever literally true.
Note: If you do not believe what is written above completely deduced from the Holy Bible, it would be fair you cannot falsely claim you are a Christian. You have religious freedom to believe whatever you like. It is none of my business. However, when someone teaches a false doctrine or heresy, as a disciple and follower of Jesus Christ, I have duty to defend the Christian Faith and utter the truth.
II. THEOLOGY.
It is important to know that theology is not the Word of God. All theologies are made by men. Some men want to have fame and fortune and so devised some strain or sectarian of theology in their own names or other names. It is wrong to call Pauline Theology, Johannine Theology, or Petrine Theology because all these apostles wrote as they were inspired by the Holy Spirit, they did not make any brand of their own theology.
God and everything pertaining to God is written in the Holy Scriptures. Outside the Holy Bible, there is no truth in the devil, no truth in man, no truth in religion, no truth in institution, and no truth in theology.
Theology is basically the study of God. Since God is not a subject which is beyond the realm of science and human wisdom. Science cannot study the Spirit, the supernatural, invisible, ultimate, and eternal. To be accurate, theology can be viewed as the study of the Word of God pertaining to God and things relating to God.
We reject all man-made theologies, including Speculative theology, Anglican theology, Catholic theology, Presbyterian theology, liberal theology, natural theology, Pentecostal theology, existential theology, liberation theology, feminist theology, comparative theology, ecumenical theology, etc. We only accept Biblical theology, even that is not like the Word of God. Any man-made system of theology can be faulty and flawed and fallible.
Theology is not based on what man or individual believes or not believes. The Christian theology is only based on the Holy Bible, the Word of God, not on any other books or apocrypha or pseudo holy writings of any religion. It is wrong to label a theology based on the teachings of a certain individual; for example, Calvinism according to John Calvin. There is no Christian theology according to Calvin, Arminian, Augustine, etc. There are four Gospels according to Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Not one, not anyone individual, can claim theology of his own.
There is no conservative or liberal theology. There is only Biblical theology which is the Christian theology handed down by Jesus Christ and the holy Apostles. The Holy Bible is ONE, composed of the Old Testament and the New Testament. There are 39 books in the Old Testament, and 27 books in the New Testament, a total of 66 books, all inspired by God. Christianity accepts no other bible or holy scriptures. Christianity does not recognize the theology or theologies of any other religion or religions. Christianity cannot be mixed with other religions or faiths. I am conscious there is an evil religion trying to associate with Christianity. The Christian theological views do not depend on the acceptance or rejection of the masses. No people, government or groups of people determine what is true Theology. Theology can only be true if it is according to the Word of God.
III. HERESY AND FALSE TEACHING.
2Pe 2:1, “But false prophets also appeared among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among
you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves.”
Note: Destructive in Greek is apōleia which means damnable; destroying; pernicious; perishing; ruining; condemnable; detestable; accursed; – which occurs 20 times in the New Testament. Heresy in Greek is hairesis which means sect; cult; disunion; religious opinion which is contrary to the dogma; tenet; an opinion varying from the true exposition of the Christian faith; dissension; a doctrine or practice contrary to the truth; doctrinal faction; – which occurs 9 times in the New Testament.
2Pe 2:3, “and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.”
Over the years I have studied many theologians, the more I study them the more I dislike and despise them because they used empty words to exploit and delude the people and led the away from the truth of Christ. False words are empty words, they do not matter.
1Ti 6:3, “If anyone advocates a different doctrine and does not agree with sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and with the doctrine conforming to godliness.”
To teach a different doctrine in Greek is heterodidaskaleō which means to teach other doctrine; to deviate from the truth; – which occurs 2 times in the New Testament.
To have a different doctrine is to have a different gospel, a different gospel is a false gospel.
Eph 4:14, “As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of people, by craftiness in deceitful scheming.”
Doctrine in Greek is didaskalia which means teaching; principle; instruction; – which occurs 21 times in the New Testament. The Christian doctrines which have accepted by all Christians of all generations include the doctrine of Creation, the doctrine of Trinity, the doctrine of Incarnation, the doctrine of Virgin Birth, the doctrine of Inspiration, the doctrine of the Divinity of Christ, the doctrine of Atonement, the doctrine of Resurrection, the doctrine of Ascension, the doctrine of Justification, and the doctrine of the Second Coming of Christ, the doctrine of the Kingdom of Heaven, etc. False teachers or theologians made waves and winds of false doctrines, by the trickery of people, by craftiness in deceitful scheming.
1Ti 4:6, “In pointing out these things to the brothers and sisters, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, constantly nourished on the Words of the Faith and of the good doctrine which you have been following.”
In my website, I do strive to present the Words of the Faith and the good and sound doctrine of Christianity.
1Ti 6:3, “If anyone advocates a different doctrine and does not agree with sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and with the doctrine confirming to godliness.”
Calvinism advocates a different doctrine and does not agree with sound words of Jesus Christ, so I must oppose him.
Tit 2:1, “But as for you, proclaim the things which are fitting for sound doctrine.”
To proclaim the things which are fitting for sound doctrine inevitably leads one to oppose different and unsound doctrine. For that reason, I cannot even endorse Augustine because he was a product of the Roman Catholic Church which is full of heresy and false doctrines.
Tit 2:7, “in all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds, with purity in doctrine, dignified.”
The Lord Jesus demands every servant to be an example of good deeds, with purity in doctrine, dignified. The Christian Faith cannot compromise, but must be upheld with purity in doctrine and knowledge.
Tit 2:10, “not stealing, but showing all good faith so that they will adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in every respect.”
In my opinion, those who merchandise the Gospel to get rich are stealing, not showing all good faith. We try our best to adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in every respect.
IV. CALVINISM

Calvin believed that salvation is only possible through the grace of God. Even before creation, God chose some people to be saved. This is the bone most people choke on: predestination. Curiously, it isn’t particularly a Calvinist idea. Augustine taught it centuries earlier, and Luther believed it, as did most of the other Reformers. Yet Calvin stated it so forcefully that the teaching is forever identified with him. Calvin said it was clearly taught in the Bible.”
“What are the Five Points of Calvinism? (TULIP)
· 1. Total Depravity – asserts that as a consequence of the fall of man into sin, every person is enslaved to sin. People are not by nature inclined to love God, but rather to serve their own interests and to reject the rule of God.
· 2. Unconditional Election – asserts that God has chosen from eternity those whom he will bring to himself not based on foreseen virtue, merit, or faith in those people; rather, his choice is unconditionally grounded in his mercy alone. God has chosen from eternity to extend mercy to those he has chosen and to withhold mercy from those not chosen.
· 3. Limited Atonement – asserts that Jesus’s substitutionary atonement was definite and certain in its purpose and in what it accomplished. This implies that only the sins of the elect were atoned for by Jesus’s death.
· 4. Irresistible Grace – asserts that the saving grace of God is effectually applied to those whom he has determined to save (that is, the elect) and overcomes their resistance to obeying the call of the gospel, bringing them to saving faith. This means that when God sovereignly purposes to save someone, that individual certainly will be saved.
· 5. Perseverance of the Saints – asserts that since God is sovereign and his will cannot be frustrated by humans or anything else, those whom God has called into communion with himself will continue in faith until the end.”
“The five points of Calvinism can be summarized by the acronym TULIP. T stands for total depravity, U for unconditional election, L for limited atonement, I for irresistible grace, and P for perseverance of the saints. Here are the definitions and Scripture references Calvinists use to defend their beliefs.”
Note: John Calvin was very wrong about Limited Atonement and God withholding mercy. The Bible clearly teaches Unlimited Atonement. That simply means anyone and everyone who repents of his sins and believes in the Son of God, the Savior of the world, can be saved. Salvation is open for all, although not all will receive it. The love of God does not exclude anyone, for God so loves the world. Psa 84:11, “For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.” Calvin was in the wrong to say that God withholds His grace. Christ did not die for the elect alone. Christ died for the whole mankind.
V. THE BIBLE PROVES JOHN CALVIN WRONG.
Luk 2:10-11, “And so the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you the Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” The salvation of God is for all the people. It does not matter what other says. What the Word of God says matters. The message of God through the angel can never be altered.
Rom 5:6, “For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.” Christ dies for all the ungodly, not just a portion or group of the ungodly.
Rom 5:8, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Us means sinners, no one is excluded.
1Co 15:3, “For I handed down to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures.” Christ died for sins of all sinners, no one is excluded.
2Co 5:15, “and He died for all, so that those who live would no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose on their behalf.” Christ died for all, all sinners of all races.
Eph 3:9-10, “and to enlighten all people as to what the plan of the mystery is which for ages has been hidden in God, who created all things; so that the multifaceted wisdom of God might now be made known through the Church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places.” The Gospel of Jesus Christ is preached to all the people, to enlighten all people, no race or group is excluded.
Tit 2:11, “For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people.” Salvation is the grace of God, it is brought to all people.
Heb 7:27, “who has no daily need, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the sins of the people, because He did this once for all time when He offered up Himself.” Jesus Christ offered up Himself for sinners, for the sins of the people once for all time.
1Jo 2:2, “and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.” Sin cannot be burned away. Sin requires sacrifice. Jesus Christ died on the cross is the propitiation for our sins. Propitiation is Greek is hilasmos which means atonement; appeasing; expiation; sacrifice; – which occurs 2 times in the New Testament. Jesus Christ did not die for our sins only, but also for the sins of the whole world. I am sure John Calvin knew what this Scripture means, only his view is crooked.
John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life.”
How could a theologian do not know the Greek word pas which means all in an absolute sense; all men; whosoever; everyone; every man; every person; everybody; each and every; collectively all; any; as many as; of every kind; the whole; altogether; all taken together; – which occurs 1,243 times in the New Testament. It is contradictory to say that God so loved the world, only predetermined a certain group of people to be saved. It is according to the Word of God, that God so loved the world and that everyone or anyone who believes in Jesus Christ will not perish, but have eternal life. I do not know the motive of the theologian, but whatever a theologian said does not matter. What God says matters.
A false preacher is one who intentionally violates the World of God.
It is clear the salvation of God is for all, although not all have faith. The Word of God clearly says that Christ died for sinners, for all sinners, for the sins of the world. Who is John Calvin who dared to contradict God by saying Christ died for the sins of the elect only? Henceforth, I ditch and discard John Calvin and his teachings for good. I do not want to waste my time and efforts on a false teacher. I am not preaching Calvinism, I am preaching the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Once by chance I happened to encounter a website, the website was so outrageous that it lists Jesus Christ as a follower of John Calvin! Who was John Calvin but a false teacher who taught the false doctrine of predestination. No true Christian can be a Calvinist because a Calvinist is a follower of the wrong teachings of John Calvin. A Christian is a follower of Jesus Christ and a believer in the teachings of Jesus Christ. For the same reason, a Christian cannot be an Arminian, Augustinian, Wesleyan, Lutheran, etc.
Once I asked a nursing student of a Lutheran Hospital whether she is a Christian or a Lutheran. Her answer was: Lutheran. If Martin Luther were alive and heard the answer, he would be furious. For Martin Luther did not build a new church or denomination. His efforts were to bring the Roman Catholic Church back to the Bible.
We don’t care what a Calvinist, Arminian, Wesleyan, Lutheran or Augustinian wants to believe or not to believe. We only care what the Bible says.
God is not responsible for a sinner’s action or inaction but instead the sinner should take full responsibility of his own actions without issuing excuses. These requirement insists that God is not the ultimate author of all human actions. Gen 2:16-17, “The LORD GOD commanded the man, saying, “From any tree of the garden you may freely eat; but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for on the day that you eat from it you will certainly die.”
When Eve listened to the devil, saw that the tree was good for food, and it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took some of its fruit and ate; and Eve also gave some to Adam and he ate. Do you know that God did not stop them? If you reject Jesus Christ and die in your sins, God would not stop you too.
We are not concerned whether it was old Calvinism or new Calvinism. John Calvin proved himself to be a false teacher when he said, “God preordained, for his own glory and the display of His attributes of mercy and justice, a part of the human race, without any merit of their own, to eternal salvation, and another part, in just punishment of their sin, to eternal damnation.” It is altogether contrary to the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ. It contradicts and violates the Bible,
Jhn 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” A theologian who did not recognize the word “whoever” is without redeeming value. Whoever in Greek is pas which means all men; everyone; every man; anyone; each; whatsoever; whatever person; no matter who; – which occurs 1,243 times in the New Testament. John Calvin also contradicted the Word of Jesus, Jhn 6:37, “All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out.” The Lord Jesus will not kick out anyone who comes to Him. THEOLOGY which is not based on spiritual truth is fabrication, falsehood and fantasy.
Again the Scripture says, 2Pe 3:9, “The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not willing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance.” The Lord is not willing for any to perish, but for ALL to come to repentance.
A famous person said, “Sincere Christians can disagree about the details of Scripture and theology – absolutely.” The Scripture is the Word of God, the absolute truth in Christ. Your sincerity or insincerity has nothing to do with the objectivity of the Scripture. The authority of the Scripture does not depend on your sincerity or insincerity. Theology is made by men, there is room for agreement or disagreement relatively speaking. The Scripture is always true and yes.
Jos 1:8, “Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.”
Neh 8:13, “On the second day the heads of fathers’ houses of all the people, with the priests and the Levites, came together to Ezra the scribe in order to study the Words of the Law.”
Ezr 7:10, “For Ezra had firmly resolved to study the Law of the LORD and to practice it, and to teach His statutes and ordinances in Israel.”
Psa 119:15, “I will study Your commandments and reflect on Your ways.”
Mat 11:5, “those who are BLIND RECEIVE SIGHT and those who limp walk, those with leprosy are cleansed and those who are deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the POOR HAVE THE GOSPEL PREACHED TO THEM.”
Mat 24:14,“This Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.”
IN CONCLUSION
The Glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ is for all the people in the world.
The Salvation of God is available to everyone, including you.
Mat 16:25, “For whoever wants to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.”
Mar 8:38, “For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will also be ashamed of him when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”
Jhn 4:14, “but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never be thirsty; but the water that I will give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up to eternal life.”
Rom 10:11, “For the Scripture says, “WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE PUT TO SHAME.”
1Jo 2:23, “Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father; the one who confesses the Son has the Father also.”
1Jo 4:15, “Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God remains in him, and he in God.”
So, the Bible clearly and repeatedly proves John Calvin is wrong. You must seize the opportunity to confess that Jesus is the Son of God so that you are in God and has the eternal life.
Jesus says, Jhn 6:37, “Everything that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I certainly will not cast out.”
Knowing that the doctrine of John Calvin or Calvinism is wrong, those who promote John Calvin or Calvinism participate also in his sins.
Now, get hold of the Words of Jesus. If you come to Him, He certainly will not kick you out. The Person who has the final say whether you get to Heaven or not is not Peter, not Mary, not angel, not any theologian, but Jesus Christ HIMSELF.
